Building G Major
Apply the major scale formula (W-W-H-W-W-W-H) starting from G:
G-A-B-C-D-E-F#-G
Notice the F# — this is needed to maintain the whole-step between notes 6 and 7 (E–F#) and the half-step between notes 7 and 8 (F#–G).
G major has one sharp (F#) in its key signature.
G Major Scale
Study the G major scale. Compare it to C major — the only difference is F# instead of F natural.
Play G Major Both Directions
- Play the G major scale ascending and descending
- Play F# (not F natural) at the correct position
- Compare the feel to C major and notice shared notes
