Octave Bass Waltz
Octave Bass Pattern
The octave bass pattern alternates between a root note and the same note one octave higher. This creates the classic "oom-pah" feel used in waltzes and marches.
It's one of the simplest accompaniment patterns but is incredibly effective at establishing a steady rhythmic foundation.
Octave Bass on I–IV–V–I in D
Root and octave alternate on each chord, creating the classic oom-pah waltz foundation.
Play Octave Bass in D
- Use your pinky (5) for the low root and thumb (1) for the octave above.
- Keep a steady alternation — low-high-low-high.
- Think of it as a waltz: strong beat on the root, lighter on the octave.
- Try counting "ONE-two" for each pair of notes.
